“This is a modern shag with diffused layers, wispy curtain fringe, and feathered movement throughout,” says Leo Izquierdo, a New York City-based hairstylist and cofounder of IGK Hair. “Unlike the edgy versions from previous years, this one feels polished, airy, and romantic.”

The cut leaves your layers on the longer side without adding any additional shaggy or shorter pieces, says Los Angeles-based hairstylist Ashley Streicher. Izquierdo recommends asking for softly disconnected layers, a blended curtain fringe, and soft, subtle texture.
