What is the Japanese manicure?
The Japanese manicure that’s going viral on social media owes its origins to an ancient approach to nail care that’s been followed in Japan for generations. Rather than majoring on decorating nails, the technique instead looks at enhancing natural nail health by ensuring nails are nourished, shiny and healthy, using natural ingredients like beeswax, algae and rice milk.
The technique was made popular by the P.Shine method – an at-home nail kit that’s popular in Japan for maintaining healthy nails. The two-step paste and powder system sees a series of nail buffers used to exfoliate and polish nails. After filing the nails by hand, the paste is applied with a buffer. Itt not only strengthens the cuticles and the nail itself, but also creates a smooth surface, similar to a peel. After, a superfine powder infused with vitamins, pearl dust and minerals is dusted over nails to give nails to give a subtle shimmer, without the need for any chemicals or nail polish.
