Why Didn’t Robert Pattinson Attend Taylor Swift’s Wedding With Suki Waterhouse?
The wedding of the year has come and gone, and Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are officially husband and wife. The couple, who started dating in 2023, tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at New York City’s legendary Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 3.
Swift and Kelce exchanged lengthy vows in front of over 1,000 guests, including Swift’s longtime friend, actress and singer Suki Waterhouse. However, notably absent from Waterhouse’s side was her fiancé, actor Robert Pattinson.
After much speculation about his absence, Pattinson revealed he couldn’t make it to the “Love Story” singer’s wedding because of his busy work schedule.
“I was working,” Pattinson, 40, told Entertainment Tonight at the world premiere of his new movie, The Odyssey, on Monday, July 6. “I was shooting Batman. I was shooting Batman this morning. Very busy.”
The reporter then told Pattinson that Swift and Kelce raffled off luxurious prizes at the reception—including designer bags, Cariet watches, and a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle—and he feigned disappointment at missing out on the fun.
“They were giving away lots of stuff?!” the Twilight alum asked before teasing, “What did I get?”
This comes after Waterhouse spoiled that she’d be attending Swift and Kelce’s nuptials. In late May 2026, the Daisy Jones & the Six star told Variety she was “gonna go to Taylor’s wedding” and expected it to be “amazing.” She also joked that she hoped to get “some inspiration” for her own wedding to Pattinson.
“Nothing scarier than the actual planning part, right?” she said with a grin.

Waterhouse and Pattinson began dating in July 2018 and got engaged five years later, in December 2023. They welcomed their first child, a daughter whose name has not been disclosed, in March 2024.
As for Waterhouse and Swift, they’ve shared a close friendship for years. In fact, Waterhouse served as the opening act for the Grammy winner’s Eras Tour show in London on Aug. 17, 2024.
“The coolest thing about her is she gives other artists these insane opportunities that really change people’s lives,” Waterhouse told Variety of Swift. “Knowing her as a friend, she’s actually been through so much. And I think the thing I always see in her is how she pulls herself through every time, and how everything that’s ever happened to her becomes another piece of art that becomes part of the legacy. That’s so inspiring — that’s the artist that you want to be.”
