Why Did Jack Antonoff & Margaret Qualley Break Up?

Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley have separated after nearly three years of marriage. People confirmed their split in a July 8 report, with a source revealing that they had quite a “rocky” relationship. Another insider claimed the two-time Golden Globe nominee and acclaimed music producer are still “figuring things out” between them.

News of their separation comes just days after Antonoff, 42, attended longtime friend and collaborator Taylor Swift’s July 3 wedding to Travis Kelce without Qualley, 31. He took his sister, Rachel, as his plus-one instead.

As for why The Substance star skipped the multi-day event, a guest told The Daily Mail that they overheard Antonoff telling friends that he and Qualley “had a tiff” shortly before the ceremony. The guest also claimed Antonoff “didn’t look happy during most of the wedding, unless he was with Taylor.”

“Jack didn’t want to put up a facade at Taylor’s wedding when they’re having trouble,” a second source told the outlet. “It’s been weird with her [Qualley] working and him doing his own thing the last several months.”

The insider continued, “They definitely have lost the spark they once had and it doesn’t look like they’ll fix it. Which is crazy, because they were bonkers for each other at one point and people thought they had something unique.”

Qualley allegedly reached “her breaking point” with Antonoff, especially since she felt he had a “tendency to prioritize his music career over their relationship.”

“The disconnect between them has created significant tension, and despite the growing strain, Jack hasn’t shown much interest in repairing what’s been broken,” the source added. “The two are no longer on the same page.”

The former couple was reportedly having issues for a while, according to Page Six. One source claimed that communication was “definitely a challenge” for them, saying, “Jack could be very particular about how he liked things. He’d often prefer for things to be done the way he thought was best, and Margaret didn’t always feel like her perspective was being heard or given the same weight.”

Back in April 2026, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Qualley changed her Instagram handle from @isimostar (a reference to Antonoff’s band Bleachers’ song “Isimo”) to @sarahmargaretqualley23. The actress also recently removed her and Antonoff’s wedding photos from her profile.

Bleachers also stopped performing a cover of Lana Del Rey’s “Margaret” during their Bleachers Forever tour. The last time the song was performed was during the band’s June 13 show in Philadelphia, per Setlist.fm.
