RHONJ Alum Kathy Wakile Filmed Her Facelift Recovery

Injections and procedures are more popular than ever, but, arguably, the bigger trend now is being open about them. The latest to do it is Real Housewives of New Jersey alum Kathy Wakile, who shared photos just hours after her facial surgery with her nearly 500,000 Instagram followers.

“Today I had a neck and lower facelift, along with a brow lift and lower blepharoplasty,” the Pizza Love founder wrote in the post’s caption. “As I mentioned before, this isn’t about changing the face I’ve known and loved for 60 years. It’s simply about restoring and refreshing what time has naturally changed.”

In the post, shared on Wednesday, June 24, Wakile, 60, filmed herself in floral pajamas, her head and chin wrapped in a white compression bandage. Also visible: what appear to be surgical drains running from beneath the dressing, faint surgical-marker lines along her cheeks and jaw and the inevitable early swelling and bruising around her eyes and lower face—all typical in the first hours after a neck and lower facelift, brow lift and eyelid surgery.

“I’m a few hours post-op and back home, comfortable, resting and not in any pain,” Wakile added. “I’m a little sleepy, as expected, and will be taking it easy for the next few days.”

The reality star also acknowledged her participation in the radical-honesty trend in aesthetics. “I’ve chosen to share this journey openly because I know so many people are curious about the process and may be considering something similar themselves,” she wrote. “I’ll continue to keep you updated along the way.”

Wakile’s in good company. This past May, Rosie O’Donnell walked followers through her “lower deep-plane facelift,” after years of swearing she’d never go under the knife. And last August, Kris Jenner credited her surgeon directly when fans marveled at her refreshed look, saying she shared the details because “it can be very inspirational.” We could go on, but you get the point: The secret facelift is officially out of style.
