Does Zahara Jolie Still Have Brad Pitt’s Last Name?

Since his 2016 split from ex-wife Angelina Jolie, Oscar-winning actor Brad Pitt has been estranged from their six children—Maddox, 24; Pax, 22; Zahara, 21; Shiloh, 20; and twins Knox and Vivienne, 18. At least five have publicly distanced themselves from their father and stopped using the Pitt name, including Zahara.

At her graduation from Spelman College in May 2026, Zahara dropped Pitt’s last name and accepted her diploma as Zahara Marley Jolie. She’d already introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie when joining the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in November 2023.

Now, according to court documents obtained by TMZ, Zahara has officially taken legal action to remove Pitt from her name. The outlet reported that she recently completed a key California requirement for a legal name change by publishing notice of her request in the Los Angeles Daily Journal for four consecutive weeks (June 16, June 23, June 30, and July 7), inviting any objections before the final hearing.

Zahara’s court hearing is scheduled for September 28, when a judge will decide on her request if no objections are brought forward.

A source close to Pitt told TMZ that they believe Jolie “caused the rift” between the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star and the kids, saying, “This is just the latest chapter in the very sad and never-ending campaign to alienate children from their father.”

This comes after a Us Weekly report stated that Pitt wishes he had a better relationship with his children. “He feels most hurt out of everything that happened with Angie that his children don’t want a public association with his last name,” a source told the outlet in late May 2026. “It’s been very difficult.”

Despite the continued distance, the insider alleged that Pitt “still does hope and keeps the door open to eventual reconciliation, hopefully with all of them, but it is their decision. He has no power and he can’t force them.”
