According to a June 24 RadarOnline report, Donald Trump and his executive assistant, Natalie Harp, have been growing closer over the years. The outlet cited a new book by New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, titled Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump, which discusses their relationship and notes that Harp “has not masked her devotion” to Trump since joining his team in 2022.

Harp is Trump’s go-to person, always giving him hard copies of briefs and news reports. She even runs Trump’s social media and is allegedly the person who convinced him to post a video depicting the Obamas as apes and another image portraying him as Jesus Christ.

But beyond her professional role, Harp has also expressed her affection for Trump. In fact, Haberman and Swan claim in their book that “Harp wrote Trump adoring letters that she left in his personal spaces, including one that read ‘You are all that matters to me.’”

Trump reportedly feels similarly, per Regime Change, admitting to fellow White House staffers that Harp is “the only one who loved him as much as his wife and his kids.” He often told them, “All of you will go off and make money, but she’ll never leave me.”

Harp reportedly also plays a vital part in influencing Trump’s decor preferences throughout the White House. “As the year progressed, he kept jamming more gold pieces onto the mantel (of the Oval Office),” Haberman and Swan wrote in their book. “When Trump asked White House residence staff what they thought of the glittering display, most responses were muted, but his devout aide Natalie Harp would gush with delight.”

This development is quite surprising, seeing as Trump and his wife, Melania Trump, have long bonded over interior design. A source previously told People, “Donald has his own vision for his homes and clubs, and over the years has designed and selected a lot of the furnishings and finishings himself at Mar-a-Lago and the golf clubs. He and Melania have that in common. They both love interior design.”

However, the same People report also highlighted ongoing tension in Trump and Melania’s marriage. “There is little interaction between them, just what is expected,” the source said. “Then they go back to doing their own thing.”

In a February 2025 report, just one month into Trump’s second term, the outlet suggested that Melania was spending less time with her husband. “She leads her own life and joins him when appropriate in either place,” an insider said, referring to the White House and Mar-a-Lago. Even when at Mar-a-Lago, Melanie apparently “keeps to herself” and only joins Trump for dinner “on occasion.”

These accounts echo previous claims that Trump and Melania have been “living completely separate lives” for years. One longtime observer told celebrity gossip columnist Rob Shuter that Melania “avoids all forms of PDA,” adding, “Hand-holding, hugs — she shuts it down every time. This didn’t start yesterday. It’s been years.”

Another source described their marriage as “transactional,” explaining, “Melania has her life, Donald has his. They show up together when required, but emotionally? She checked out a long time ago.”
