How should a strapless bra fit?
“A well-fitting strapless bra should feel secure without feeling restrictive,” says Zoe Price-Smith, Chief Design & Product Officer at Boux Avenue. “Around 80% of a bra’s support comes from the underband, with just 20% coming from the straps, so when you’re wearing a strapless style, the underband is doing all of the work.
“It should sit snugly against the body while still feeling comfortable enough to wear all day. The centre front should sit flat against the chest, while the cups should comfortably support and shape the bust without gaping or spillage, and the underwire should frame the breast tissue rather than sit on it.”

How do you keep a strapless bra from slipping or digging in?
If you find that your current strapless bra rolls down or slides around a lot, make sure you have the right size, but also look for styles that feature silicone strips along the band and cups – these will stick to your skin a bit more and prevent any movement. How I test the best strapless bras:
Being a fashion writer, my working week involves learning about the newest launches before calling in countless samples and testing as many as possible. The goal: to see which are actually worth your cash. For this round-up, I requested a host of strapless bras — some underwired and others bandeaus, both in a host of hues — from various high street brands to see which delivered in terms of support and style.
Each strapless bra was worn at least three times, and then reviewed against the following criteria:

I also tried each bra beneath a close-fitting T-shirt, white shirt, and summer dress to see if it delivered a flattering lift. A bit of context: I’ve been reviewing underwear, shapewear, activewear, and wellness products, including cotton underwear, sports bras, and period pants, for almost three years — that’s one year at Women’s Health and 22 months at Glamour.
