I’ve worked in the fashion industry for eight years now, attending everything from press days to runways during Fashion Week, witnessing new collections before they hit the market – so I know what’s worth investing in (and what’s not). I’m also a fellow tall girly, as mentioned, and have experienced the struggles of length first-hand.

With that in mind I’ve been compiling a list of tall summer dresses from my favourite high-street brands to some of the top designer labels. I’ve sourced them via the best online clothing stores, taking things like colour variety, size range, material and price into consideration, and have even tested a few with photos and videos to show you (in detail) how they look on me. All the other dresses are styles I’m currently trialing, but I’ve included as much detail as possible from the model’s height to the length of the dress itself.

How I tested

The majority of the dresses you can see me wearing above are mini, which is what I struggle most to find. I tried a variety of ranges – from ‘regular’ to ‘tall’ – and took things like the dress’ composition, colour variety, and cost into consideration. The styles that met my criteria, i.e. covered my dignity, didn’t dig in anywhere and didn’t look out of proportion, are the ones I’ve included. And as I said, there are some ‘regular’ styles in the mix, but as you can see, they work.

Rest assured, I definitely tried some dresses which didn’t tick those boxes. I’ve not included them, though, because there’s no point in advertising a brand if they’re lacking in inclusivity and diversity, right? Read more about how we test things at Glamour here.
