Where’s Harry & Meghan’s Relationship with William & Kate in 2026?
It’s been nearly a month since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s UK visit, during which the couple and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, briefly met with King Charles and Queen Camilla. The gathering reportedly went well, and Harry and Meghan are said to be hopeful it could lead to them rejoining the royal family.
However, not everyone is interested in reconciliation, especially Prince William. And now, RadarOnline revealed in an August 2026 report that Harry and Meghan are allegedly planning to make William’s reign as king “miserable.”
During a recent episode of The Royalist podcast, royal expert Mark Dolan claimed, “Meghan and Harry will make life a misery for King William and Queen Catherine.” He suggested that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex hope to eventually spend around “half the year” in the UK, establishing a “rival court” that could challenge the official royal household for generations to come.
Dolan also speculated that Harry and Meghan’s kids may one day join their parents’ efforts, potentially making life “misery for George, Charlotte, and Louis.”
A senior royal insider told RadarOnline that the “anxiety” within the palace isn’t just about the public appearances and documentaries anymore—it now extends to the future Harry and Meghan are building for themselves and their kids.
“There is a view inside the palace that the Sussexes want to operate as a sort of parallel royal household, splitting their time between California and Britain, staging their own appearances, and surrounding themselves with a circle of high‑profile supporters and celebrities,” the source explained.
They continued, “If they do end up spending part of each year in the UK with that kind of setup, it inevitably eats into the space that should belong to William once he is king. What really worries people is the prospect that every big moment on the royal calendar ends up with a competing storyline.”

“You have coronations, jubilees, major overseas tours that are supposed to showcase the work of William and Catherine, and at the same time there is this expectation that the Sussex camp will drop a podcast, a documentary teaser, a charity launch or a high‑gloss photo shoot,” they added. “If William and Catherine are leading an engagement in one city, there is a genuine fear that Harry and Meghan will appear somewhere else with cameras and a different message.”
The insider went on to say that the “constant overlap, that steady stream of alternative narratives and criticism, is what insiders mean when they talk about ‘making his reign miserable,’” alleging that it could turn “every royal event into a tug‑of‑war for attention rather than a clear moment of leadership.”
These accusations against Harry and Meghan come shortly after reports indicated that Kate Middleton is keeping her guard up around the couple. While Charles has seemingly welcomed them back in with open arms, both Kate and William are much more cautious.
“William and Kate believe that reconciliation has to be earned through actions over time,” a separate source previously told RadarOnline. “Their verdict is that trust was broken, and rebuilding it cannot happen overnight simply because everyone has shared the same roof for a few days.”
A palace insider pointed out that Kate isn’t one to engage in “confrontation or family feuds,” but things with Harry and Meghan are extremely complicated.
“She feels this was different because deeply personal family issues were played out on the world stage, leaving wounds that have not simply disappeared with the passage of time,” the source stated. “She believes trust has to be rebuilt before any relationship can return to what it once was, and that will only happen when there is complete confidence that private conversations, family moments and personal exchanges will remain exactly that – private.”
Kate’s said to be open to repairing the relationship, but she knows it will take time. “She does not believe forgiveness automatically erases the hurt or restores the level of trust that existed before everything became so public,” the insider noted. “She believes some of the damage caused by the years of estrangement cannot simply be overlooked.”
“They believe that restoring confidence in the Sussexes to be discreet and support the family after years of public disagreements will require patience, consistency and time rather than a single reunion,” the source concluded.
