Angelina Jolie’s Response to Brad Pitt Drinking Again

Angelina Jolie’s Response to Brad Pitt Drinking Again

In an August 2026 interview with Esquire, Brad Pitt admitted that he’s no longer sober. “I was sober for seven years. And then I got back off the wagon,” he said before clarifying that he drinks “in a more restrained manner” these days.

“I got overconfident a couple times, went, Yep, nope, not good for me. Not in big quantities,” he told the outlet. “I can have a few. But I can’t have a lot. I have to be professional about it.”

Pitt’s confession comes shortly after he was spotted drinking at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s star-studded wedding at Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 3. At the time, a source told Page Six that guests were “shocked” to see the Fight Club star sipping on alcoholic beverages.

However, there’s one person who’s unfazed by Pitt’s decision to drink again: his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie.

“Angelina is not surprised. She tried to warn people. She knew this was always a possibility,” an insider told Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice. “She doesn’t believe Brad has fundamentally changed. She believes Brad is who Brad is, and no amount of sobriety or reinvention changes that.”

The source continued, “Angelina’s attitude is simple: ‘I told you so.’ She doesn’t believe him, and she doesn’t want to get dragged back into his drama.”

Pitt initially quit drinking and joined Alcoholics Anonymous following his 2016 split from Jolie. He opened up about his sobriety multiple times, including during a June 2025 appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast.

In the episode, Pitt revealed that he didn’t think twice about sharing his experiences in AA meetings. “I was pretty much on my knees, and I was really open,” he said. “I was trying anything and everyone. Anything anyone threw at me. It was a difficult time. I needed rebooting. I needed to wake the f— up in some areas. And it just meant a lot to me.”

Pitt added that he found AA meetings “amazing” and something to “look forward to,” saying, “I just thought it was just incredible men sharing their experiences, their foibles, their missteps, their wants, their aches, and a lot of humor with it. I thought it was a really special experience.”
