Martha Stewart Traded Her Signature Blonde for Rose Gold

Martha Stewart Traded Her Signature Blonde for Rose Gold

After years of the same signature blonde, Martha Stewart just switched it up and left us all speechless. The 85-year-old lifestyle icon linked up with celebrity colorist Chris Appleton this weekend for a full-on pink transformation, and Appleton captioned the Instagram post announcing the finished look, “Welcome to the rose gold era,” tagging Stewart. Honestly, the caption might undersell it, because she looks incredible.

The color itself is a warm, luminous pink with golden undertones, more of a soft wash than a full pastel commitment. To get there, Appleton first added highlights using Schwarzkopf Professional’s BLONDME Premium Lightener 9+ mixed with 20 Volume Developer for a bright, even base. From there, he applied an allover gloss with IGORA VIBRANCE in 9.5-19 and 9.5-5, blended with 0-00 Clear to soften the pigment into that sheer, glossy finish.

It’s part of a bigger shift happening in colorist chairs right now, where clients are asking for soft, personalized washes (pink, peach, rose gold) instead of committing to a full color change.

This isn’t Stewart and Appleton’s first collaboration this year, either. Between a mocha mousse moment and a voluminous honey-blonde updo, rose gold is just the latest chapter in what’s become an ongoing hair era, courtesy of Schwarzkopf Professional. Whether her classic blonde comes back next month or this pink moment sticks around, Stewart clearly isn’t afraid to have fun with it.
