Perez Hilton Cutting Himself Videos Removed from TikTok

Videos of Perez Hilton cutting himself live on TikTok have been removed from the internet after he was hospitalized for appearing to self-harm on a live stream.

Hilton was hospitalized on Tuesday, August 4, after police from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office were called to his home in Florida following a disturbing 15-minute TikTok live stream that seemingly showed him self-harming. Following the stream, graphic clips of Hilton covered in blood circulated on social media. The videos have since been removed. Hilton’s TikTok account has also since been deactivated.

Police were called to his home by viewers who witnessed the live stream on social media. Hilton was found alone at his home at the time of the video. “In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritize de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication,” the spokesperson for the department said. “Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilizing crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimize the risk of injury to the individual, deputies, and the public.”

Hilton was then rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. After the stream, TikTok was slammed by user for not pulling the live stream earlier. TikTok states in its community guidelines, “We don’t allow content that shows, promotes, or provides instructions for suicide or self-harm.” The platform also notes that it doesn’t allow nudity. “We don’t allow extremely graphic, violent, or disturbing content—especially when it could cause viewers emotional distress,” the guidelines continue.

According to TikTok, the platform has “advanced moderation technologies and safety teams” that “work together to find and remove content that breaks our Community Guidelines.” “When our systems detect high-risk activity, our specialist safety teams carefully assess whether to alert relevant authorities immediately,” TikTok continues.

As for what “mental health crisis interventions” involve, TikTok states that its “Trust & Safety team has responded immediately when users expressed clear intent for self-harm on livestreams. By proactively sharing critical information with local emergency services, we enabled timely and appropriate intervention by those authorities.”

In a statement shared on Wednesday, August 5, Hilton’s family thanked his fans for their support. “Many of you have reached out with concern for Perez, and we are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers,” the insider said. “Our family’s focus right now is on his well-being,” the statement continued. “We kindly ask that you respect Perez’s privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time. If and when we are able to share any updates, we will do so with everyone as soon as we can. Thank you for your compassion, understanding, and continued support.”
