What Happened with Prince Harry & Buckingham Palace Amid UK Visit?

It seems like the drama between Prince Harry and the rest of the British royal family is the gift that keeps on giving. Ever since Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped down as senior royals and moved to California, the relationship between Harry and his family has been strained. We thought things were getting better after Harry met with his father last year. Then, he was invited to stay at Buckingham Palace during his visit to the UK.

But then that offer got rescinded, and now things are looking dire again.

According to RadarOnline, Harry was nervous as he attended an Invictus Games meeting. Body language expert Inbaal Honigman said, “Harry’s body language betrays a good deal of nervousness, alongside a clear people-pleasing strategy.”

“As he greets the gathered press and fans, the Prince’s wave is soft and appears to seek approval,” she added. “Had he waved with a firm, flat palm and his fingers held tightly together, it would have conveyed a stronger sense of authority and leadership.”

The conclusion? “Instead, Harry’s gentle wave suggests he is looking for reassurance and encouragement.”

“As he walks, Harry can also be seen fidgeting with his clothing. Any form of fidgeting can be a sign of nervousness, but movements involving clothing or hair are specifically classified as ‘grooming’ gestures in body language,” Honigman explained.

The appearance came just as the ruling for Harry’s invasion-of-privacy lawsuit against Associated Newspapers Limited, the publisher of The Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday was announced. A judge dismissed all of the charges.

This comes after reports that palace aides “don’t trust” Harry around his father, King Charles. “Every interaction will need to be managed, even to the minute, by courtiers and those whose job it is to protect the monarchy,” royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital. “Merely polite meetings are more plausible.”

“They are far more concerned with the overall institution and continuity than the feelings of any one family member,” she continued. “This has been the case for generations. Harry should know better.”

RadarOnline also recently reported that Harry was upset about the fact that the offer to stay at Buckingham Palace was rescinded. A rep for Harry called the decision “disappointing,” and said the royal family revoked the invitation “at the last moment.” Sourced also told the outlet that the royal family intends to “quietly sabotage” Harry’s trip by making sure they do a lot of official engagements while he’s in the UK.

“The program of engagements was always going to be full, but there is a clear determination that the institution should not revolve around Harry’s movements or the latest twists in his personal situation,” a royal insider said. “Senior royals want the conversation to remain on the charities, communities and organizations they are supporting this week, rather than allowing another family dispute to dominate the national agenda.”

They continued, “Essentially, the intention is really to sabotage Harry’s trip by generating so much press coverage around their engagements [that] it will drown out the publicity he wants to drum up with his visit.”
