7 Best Push-Up Bras 2026, Reviewed
Common FAQs about push-up bras, answered:
How does a push-up bra work?
“A push-up bra features extra padding, which is cleverly positioned at the bottom and sides of the cups,” details Nia. “This acts like a shelf to help lift the bust tissue upwards and inwards for a more enhanced-looking cleavage. The underwires, which are a key feature of most push-up bras, help support the lifted shape created by the padding.”
Emma continues: “Push-up bras work to give you lift by having increased padding through either a graduated mould, additional cookies that can be added to the bra, or foam inserts. The increased padding tends to be at the bottom of the cup.”
What is the difference between a push-up bra and a padded bra?
“Padded bras tend to be designed to create a smooth shape with padding mostly evenly distributed throughout the cup,” explains Emma, “whereas Push Up bras are designed to lift and ‘push up’ so they have concentrated extra padding in areas that can give you lift.”
Still confused? “A padded bra is made with a thinner layer of foam that is evenly distributed throughout the whole cup, offering a smooth, symmetric shape that offers a slightly enhanced shape to the bust,” adds Nia. “Whereas a push-up bra is constructed with strategic heavier padding that focuses on lifting, physically scooping your bust tissue upwards for dramatic volume at the top of the bust, making it look significantly rounder and fuller.”
Are push-up bras suitable for larger breasts?
“At Boux Avenue, our push-up bras range from an A to a DD cup,” shares Nia. “Larger busts benefit from bras that offer incredible support and a rounded shape, and they usually don’t require the extra padding, as there would be less space in the cup for the bust to sit comfortably.
“Instead, padded styles can work really well for larger busts, as they feature a thinner form of padding that is evenly distributed throughout the whole cup. The best style for larger busts is balconette bras designed to naturally lift and shape your bust with slightly more coverage, whilst still offering the highest amount of support.”

How I test the best push-up bras:
Being a shopping writer, my working week involves calling in samples from a host of brands to see which styles are worth recommending. For this round-up, I requested a host of strapless, multi-way and lace push-up bras to see which delivered both in terms of lift and support.
Each push-up bra was worn multiple times over the course of a month and was reviewed against the following criteria:
| Functionality | Did the push-up bra offer a natural-looking lift and flattering shape? Did it stay put and provide ample support? Did I have any issues in terms of slipping, spillage or twisting? |
| Design | Is the bralette aesthetic and comfortable? How many options do I have in terms of colour and pattern? And what was each bralette made of? Are the materials sustainable and breathable? Did it wash well? |
| Price point | Would I be willing to spend that much again? Is it of good quality? |
| Delivery | How quickly did the bralette arrive, and what were/are the associated costs? |
Where I haven’t yet had the chance to personally review a style myself, I asked my colleagues for their recommendations and read countless customer reviews for any points of note. Of course, only the push-up bras that impressed all around made it into this edit — and sadly, the following didn’t make the cut:

Why you can trust me:
A bit of context: I’ve been reviewing fashion essentials — underwear, shapewear, swimwear and activewear — for years, meaning I know where to invest when buying basics. So, whether you’re seeking cotton underwear, sports bras, or period pants, you can be assured that I’ve personally tested a host to locate the best on the high street.
However, before Glamour, I spent a year working in the same subject area at Women’s Health — and since then, I’ve seen countless trends come and go. But to ensure I am an authority on all things functional fashion, I regularly attend press launches and interview designers or brand founders, requesting answers to common FAQs.
For my personal bra experience — call it oversharing, but context is important — I graduated straight from training bras to a C cup. Essentially, I’ve always needed styles with a little more support. And now, being a 34DD, I’m used to seeking out the best bras for big busts, be they strapless, multiway or push-up. While I don’t tend to crave extra volume and lift, I committed to testing a host of push-up bras from various brands (Boux Avenue, Marks & Spencer, Pour Moi, etc.), plus asked my smaller-bust friends for their recommendations, too.
