Why Aren’t Prince William & Kate Middleton Attending Taylor Swift’s Wedding

All eyes have been on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s upcoming wedding since before they even got engaged, but with the ceremony being just days away, anticipation has reached a fever pitch. Much of the attention centers on the guest list, especially after reports Swift has snubbed longtime friends like Blake Lively, Miles Teller, and Keleigh Sperry Teller.

Now, two more high-profile names have been confirmed to be excluded from the guest list: Prince William and Kate Middleton. On Tuesday, June 30, People reported that William and Kate will not attend Swift and Kelce’s multi-day wedding celebration, officially putting an end to weeks of rumors that intensified after William jokingly suggested he was hoping to be invited.

During a May 2026 appearance on Heart Breakfast, William was asked if he’d received a wedding invitation. “No comment,” he said with a grin, eliciting laughter from the studio. “I’m hoping, and I’m sure there might be an invitation around, but we’ll see,” William added, which fueled rumors that he and Kate might turn up at Swift and Kelce’s nuptials.

While on the radio show, William also shared that his kids are huge fans of Swift, especially his daughter Princess Charlotte, 11, who’s reportedly “obsessed” with the pop star.

Some might find William’s comment surprising, but he and Swift actually go way back. The two first met in 2013 at the Centrepoint Winter Whites Gala at Kensington Palace, where they joined Jon Bon Jovi onstage for “Livin’ on a Prayer.”

In June 2024, royal expert Katie Nicholl later noted via OK! that William and Swift “remained good friends” after that night. “So good, in fact, that William got the royal treatment [at the Eras Tour],” she continued, revealing that he received “VIP tickets” to one of Swift’s London concerts. After the show, Swift even posted a selfie with William, Charlotte, George, and Kelce on Instagram.

“I’m not sure that Princess Charlotte is the biggest Swiftie of the family or whether it’s actually Prince William. I know he loves her music,” Nicholl confessed. “There is clearly a lovely connection between these two.”

As previously mentioned, William is not the only longtime friend of Swift’s who will not be attending the wedding. In early June, Page Six reported that the “Bad Blood” singer did not invite Miles Teller and Keleigh Sperry Teller. Shortly after, TMZ reported that Swift “had a falling out” with the couple, and she and Keleigh were no longer as close as they once had been.

According to a June 13 report from the Daily Mail, Keleigh distanced herself from Swift after it was revealed that Lively had referred to Swift as her “dragon” during her messy legal battle with Justin Baldoni. “Keleigh didn’t want to be a part of it,” a source told the outlet, claiming that Keleigh “couldn’t believe they were talking like that to each other.”

Oddly enough, prior to Swift and Keleigh’s falling out, reports indicated that Lively “felt threatened” by their friendship. After Swift began dating the Kansas City Chiefs player, she and Keleigh reportedly spent more time together than Swift and Lively, prompting Lively to try to “tear their friendship apart to be Taylor’s number one.”

“Friends told Keleigh to protect her mental health; she needs to take space, but they were still in contact here and there,” the insider said. This marked the beginning of their separation, especially since, per another source, “Keleigh told Taylor she felt like she was always playing second, third, or even fourth fiddle to her other friends.”

The situation reportedly reached a breaking point when Swift didn’t reach out to Keleigh or Miles after they lost their house in the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires. “That was the nail in the coffin of the friendship,” a separate source suggested. At the time, Swift was “exhausted” and “only in touch with very few people” after wrapping up the Eras Tour.

Mutual friends are reportedly hoping Swift and Keleigh can reconcile soon. “All of our friends are currently trying to fix this but it’s hard to come back from losing everything and not hearing from your once closest friend,” one source explained. Still, they claimed that Keleigh feels attending Swift and Kelce’s wedding would make “Taylor look good” and make her look “like a doormat.”

“Keleigh wants the friendship to work itself out naturally without media book ending it,” they added. “She is literally still heartbroken.”
