23 Best Short Wedding Dresses For The Modern Bride in 2026
Why you can trust us
You won’t be surprised to hear that the fashion team at Glamour has researched, shopped, tried-on and road-tested more than a few dresses. It is our job, after all. Abigail is a 2026 bride, which means all the wedding dress trends are still at the forefront of her mind. She also opted for a high-low afterparty dress on her big day in February.
How we test the best short wedding dresses
I can’t count how many bridal pieces I created in the lead-up to my wedding day. Not to mention all the press previews I attended, having the privilege of getting first looks at all the new bridal drops for 2026. And while my budget wasn’t vast, thanks to my job as a fashion editor, I was able to shop around and experience first-hand the customer service at a variety of different bridal stores, from the mega expensive to the affordable.
I’m talking old-school couture houses like Suzanne Neville, designer bridal labels like Temperley, newer Aussie bridal brands like Grace Loves Lace, as well as off-the-rack collections from the likes of ASOS, Nadine Merabi, Reformation and Pretty Lavish. It was so educational to see the quality of these items up close and personal, not to mention seeing how they fit, drape and move.
How to shop for short wedding dresses online
I know not everyone has the time or money to do that, so I recommend using your zoom tool heavily when browsing online for a short wedding dress. If there’s a video on site (ASOS is great for this), watch the way the item moves when the model walks; if there are pictures of multiple-sized models, pay close attention to the way the garment fits on each example; zoom in on seams and detailing to see the quality; read the size and fit notes and reviews. If you follow all of these procedures, you can minimise the amount of returns you’ll need to do when shopping for bridal online.
