What’s Beatrice & Eugenie’s Relationship With Harry?

Who gets along with whom in the British royal family seems to be a daily matter of conversation. And a lot of the speculation has now gone from focusing on the older members of the family, like Andrew and King Charles, to the new generation. This is especially true as people try to discern what roles Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie will have in the monarchy going forward.

And, reportedly, the fact that the two didn’t just make an appearance at the wedding of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling earlier this month, but that they seemed to share a warm reunion with other members of the family, hasn’t gone unnoticed by Prince Harry. Closer is reporting that the images make it clear where the sisters stand.

“Seeing them quite literally kiss up to William after all the hours they’ve spent counselling them on how to handle this threat of eviction he’s been hanging over them was very disturbing for Harry and Meghan,” an insider says. The sisters have reportedly been in contact with Harry and Meghan recently.

“Clearly the girls are doing all they can to save their own skins and unfortunately that does make Meghan and Harry pretty uneasy. How can they trust them if they’re going to lay at William’s feet the moment that they get the chance?”

Harry is said to have been close to his cousins, particularly Eugenie, even after leaving the royal family. This reportedly makes the show of affection towards William hurt even more, particularly amid the feud between the brothers that William has shown no sign of wanting to mend.

“They think they’re being foolish and frankly quite weak by showing him such blatant adoration. They aren’t suggesting they had to be rude but they could have been a little less effusive,” the insider said. “What’s worse is they are now trying to defend William. Meghan and Harry both feel it’s obvious that William is being totally phony and just biding his time until he drops the axe on them. William was nice to Andrew the week before he lost his titles. He’s a total two-faced schemer & the epitome of a wolf in sheep’s clothing in their view.”

For Beatrice and Eugenie, however, there’s really no incentive to pick a fight with the monarchy now. Their father has been arrested for suspicion of misconduct in public office, an investigation that has now expanded to include sex crimes. They want to separate themselves from that scandal as much as possible. And part of it is being cordial to the rest of the family.

“Beatrice and Eugenie don’t see the situation in such black-and-white terms. They appreciate Harry and Meghan’s concern and they do value their advice, but they’re simply not prepared to follow them into exile, they still have too much to lose.”

It all comes amid reports that when William is King, he will slim down the monarchy even further, and there will likely be no place for the two.

“But Beatrice and Eugenie have decided there’s no point living in fear of what might happen. Their attitude is that they have to keep showing up, keep doing the right thing and hope they aren’t ultimately judged by the actions of their parents.”
