Hugh Jackman & Sutton Foster at Odds Amid Ex-Wife Drama

Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster’s relationship has faced intense criticism from fans and even some of Jackman’s famous friends. Despite the backlash, the couple has presented a united front—but recent reports suggest there’s growing tension between them.

On June 26, Globe reported that Jackman and Foster are currently at odds over where to live. Jackman, who hails from Australia, is reportedly “pushing” Foster to relocate there with him. However, sources claim Foster refuses to leave New York City.

“Sutton’s idea that they could just keep being this cozy little Broadway couple and work on their theatre projects indefinitely is proving to be a fantasy,” a source explained. “Hugh is always going to be a citizen of the world and he’s always going to need regular check-ins back in Australia.”

While Jackman is also a “creature of New York”—largely to be close to his kids, Oscar, 26, and Ava, 20, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness—the source revealed he only considers the city a “part-time” home.

Foster, meanwhile, has her own roots in the Big Apple. She shares a nine-year-old daughter, Emily, with ex-husband Ted Griffin, and per sources, she “has her own duties as a divorced mom to tend to in the city.”

But disagreements over where to live aren’t the only reason they’re “not [in] a happy relationship at the moment.” According to the insider, Jackman and Foster have also been arguing over his “grand mid-career ambitions.”

Foster is reportedly “fine with just being a Broadway star because that’s been her dream since childhood,” but Jackman has “much bigger, more global plans” for his future.

“The bottom line is, Hugh knows he needs a partner who can really keep up with him and his schedule, without friction, the way his ex Deb was able to do for so many years,” the source said but noted tha “Sutton still has a lot of commitments that keep her from doing that.”

Jackman and Foster’s latest rough patch comes amid reports that the Deadpool & Wolverine actor’s ex-wife, Deb, is “done holding back” about his alleged affair with Foster.

A June 16 report from RadarOnline claims that Deb still feels “very hurt” and “betrayed” by Jackman’s behavior, and she’s now “ready to forge ahead with some plans that have been on ice for over a year.”

“A book is step one, but for Deb to justify the big bucks she’ll have to lay everything out there, which will likely include Hugh’s shady behavior with Sutton and other occasions where he wasn’t exactly lily-white,” a source disclosed to the outlet.

There’s also speculation about a potential documentary, especially since Deb allegedly has “got hundreds of hours’ worth of home video footage, dating back to their very earliest times together.” Reports suggest that Jackman and Deb considered an NDA, but ultimately, Deb “refused to sign it.” Now, Jackman is reportedly “on edge” about what could come next.

“There’s a real worry on his side that people will start seeing him as this major love rat who’s been conning his fans with a false image,” the insider added. “But Deb is done holding back.”

They continued, “For Hugh all this is the ultimate nightmare. He just wants to move on with his life and wishes Deb would stop being so petty. But he’s made his bed and now he’s going to have to deal with the consequences.”
